Sometimes, if nobody has been by for a while, you’ll see a turtle at the edge of the water, sticking his head up onto the bike path. Today as I came across that section, there was a turtle completely out of the water enjoying the sun. I stopped immediately and tried to take a picture, but my phone was sweaty and I couldn’t get it to unlock. While I was struggling to wipe it off and unlock it, someone rode by that put the turtle on alert. As soon as my phone unlocked, he bolted into the water. I may never get a good picture of him, but I’ll keep trying.

I started off my run fairly slowly today, for no particular reason other than I talked myself into a “rolling start”. Maybe it worked, because I felt pretty good the whole run. I wasn’t really fast or anything, but I managed to do pretty well even though I hit a few lights red on my way back up the hill from the bike trail.

There is a section of the 56 Bike Trail that crosses under Carmel Country Road and across the river where it is pooled.
