I have a few blogs that I've started and abandoned here and there. I expect to start posting on the garden blog again soon, but there's not a lot happening during winter, as you can imagine. I may pick some of the other blogs up again from time to time, but without a recurring event to write about, I find it difficult to keep writing. With the garden blog, I could force myself to take pictures each week, so I had something to write about. With this swim blog, we have practice at least twice a week, so I have something to write about. With the others, I go in spurts, writing a bunch close together, and then fade out.

You still swimming? I'm trying to put together an online swim competition. First person to swim 500 miles gets $100. Not set up yet, but if we can get 10 people to take up the challenge I think it would be fun and great if everyone could post their daily workouts as well. Send me an email if you're interested.

Yeah, our system is available to anyone with a browser, but we still have new versions of the system that have different capabilities. We're in the final stages of putting the wraps on the next version. It has some new features, but mostly a bunch of improvements to stability and other bug fixes.

I really need to run this week. I think it's almost Wednesday. My hours are sort of all blending together these days. I probably need to be getting more sleep if I want to have any chance of working out well. I think I've gotten between 3 and 4 hours of sleep each night for the past 5 or 6 days. I can tell it's starting to catch up to me because even the Mountain Dew is losing its magic ability to keep me awake.

Soon it will be the weekend and I'll be shifting into an even higher gear to work on a side business with some friends. I don't know how much sleep I'll get, but I can guarantee I'll be eating a lot of cheese. I've really become quite the cheese bigot. It's sort of funny, but also sort of sad. At Little America this year I was really disappointed with their cheese selection. Mozzarella, Cheddar, Havarti, Munster, and Swiss was all they had. That may have been fine several years ago, but now I skip all of those and head for real cheeses... of which they had none.

This is a comment? It's long enough to be its own blog post. I guess I'll stop now.

Pizza Factory is always a great excuse. I wish mine were as good. Not that I think this belongs in your 'swim' blog, but it's funny you should mention you're 'trying to ship a new version of your software.' I thought your software was web-based?

Anyway - I'm happy to report that I ran 3 miles today. Cardiovascularly, I must be getting in better shape.

And on a side note, Brad Gilson says that 'lungbusters' sound just like something he thinks you would do. I told him I thought it was a good idea.

No see, that's great information for me to have. Although I doubt if I can swim a 500 for a warm-up. I doubt if I can swim a 500 at all. Maybe I'll try a 200 Warm up, and I really like the 'lungbusters.' Those are very interesting. I'll have to give it a whirl.

I guess I'm in a different boat than you... I also recently started running again, but my problem didn't seem to be my legs. It was 'Cardiovascularly." I think that my heart may have shrunk in the 7 months it's been since I was hitting it hard. Although my first day back wasn't as stellar as yours, (0.8 miles), I'm hoping to once again run longer distances as I once did (Feb. 27th I ran 9.0 miles). For now, I'm just hoping that I can get my heart back in good enough shape that I can run 5. I'm also not as fast as you. I set my limit at 6.0, but then towards the end of the run (so I get that good 'burn' feel), I always increase my speed...

My wife keeps saying she is going to do a Tri. The problem is, she can't swim - and I mean that in the kindest way possible, but she really can't. I would agree that I think the greatest advantage to be had in a triathlon is in the swimming. I watched an episode of 'The Biggest Loser" wherein the winner of the triathlon was a terrible runner, a terrible biker, but a strong swimmer, and she kicked everyone else's butts!

Now get back to the swimming, as I thought this was a 'swim' blog. I like to see what your workouts are, since I have no idea what to do when I get in the pool for exercise. I can't believe how quickly I have forgotten all those seemingly endless hours in the pool in Jr. High.
